Beverly Jimerson
I first experienced homelessness while living in Chicago. The apartment building I lived in caught fire and I lost everything. I lived in a shelter for seven months and during this time, I still had a job that sustained me until I was able to get back on my feet. Believe me, it wasn’t easy, but I held onto my faith. In 1998, I moved to Minneapolis and once again, I dealt with bouts of homelessness. For two years, I lived off and oon with family and friends. This was because I lost my jobs due to budget cuts and layoffs. God has blessed me now with a decent job that I have been with for two years now. I am doing fine. But there is always that nagging feeling of “what if.” -BJ
