Maureen Marmion 1945 - 2011

Maureen Marmion, Glenegad House, Forkhill Road, Dundalk, died peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital on July 4, after a long illness borne with great dignity.

Aged 66, Maureen was born and raised in Dundalk. She was the daughter of Peter and Bridget O'Hare, Villas St Malachy, and attended school and worked there until her marriage to Noel Marmion.

After their marriage, the happy couple lived for a number of years in Birmingham, England, where they started loving family life with their two daughters, Patricia and Elaine.On their return they built a house that was always welcoming.

Maureen has thrived on family life, she was devoted to Christmas and his daughters, who were the love of his life. She was one of the ladies of life, which has always been presented glamorous. Kindness is the hallmark of her life, she would do everything possible to help others and his boundless generosity.

His interests included GAA and politics and was involved in many campaigns, and insisted on voting in recent elections, even though her illness was taking its toll.

She was always up for conversation and debate.She loved to shop and was a fervent follower of fashion. Maureen has enjoyed traveling and visited many interesting places. In recent years, his preference was to visit his daughter, Patricia, and his family in their hometown of Atlanta, Georgia.

Maureen also loved spending time in the gap Gyles Quay, a place full of memories and friends. She had strong family connections with the Clones, Co Monaghan, and often returned there. She was a member of the Cancer Society Dundalk and founding member of the North Louth Hospice, for which she worked tirelessly.

In the days following his death, there was a lot of sadness and the shedding of many tears, but perhaps the ultimate prize may be paid to that wonderful woman, mother, grandmother and friend, it ' is that they have been overshadowed by the echoes of happy laughter, as previously unknown stories of kindness and unspeakable Maureen escapades of conduct have been exchanged with delight.
